This brilliant Las Compuertas red hails from a 1.5-hectare parcel of ungrafted Malbec on clay soils, planted just over a century ago. Reflecting the cooler year, it’s dense, serious yet refreshing, with plenty of grip and backbone, layers of blackberry, damson and dark plums and lovely energy, focus and purpose.
